My sweet dad was diagnoses with Pancreatic Cancer a few weeks back, and was scheduled to have the Whiple procedure done on the 11th. I made plans to fly down and arrive a day or so after his surgery while he was still in the hospital. But I wanted to send him something to let him know I was there “in spirit” with him pre-surgery. My dad does not show his emotions at all, but he cried when he opened this up, and asked my mom to bring it up to the hospital once he woke up from surgery. I hold him so closely in my heart and this figuring just captivated that essence for me.

This angel was purchased in honor of my dad who has Alzheimer’s Disease. I really wanted the angel for the purple ribbon that it’s holding, which is the symbol for Alzheimer’s awareness. I also loved the fact that it was an angel figure, since both me and my dad are religious people. I was very disappointed with the quality of this figure, in particularly the way the ribbon was painted.

The figure itself is beautiful. The angel stands approximately 5″ tall and has beautiful floral and scroll prints all over her dress. Her wings are in the shape of a ribbon so it looks like a bow from behind, a very cool effect. The angel itself is very well made, but it would be just an angel if it were not for the purple ribbon that she is holding, which is what makes her an Alzheimer’s angel, or any number of other diseases that use the purple ribbon including Fibromyalgia.

The ribbon the angel is holding is what I have a problem with. It is so poorly painted. On the first angel, you could barely tell the ribbon was purple, it looked more silver, the way it was painted. I went on the company’s Facebook page and left a message. They assured me they would correct the situation and send me a good angel if I called them. So, I called them. And guess what they told me? Return it to Amazon and order another one. So, I did. I returned the first angel to Amazon and received a second angel, and the ribbon was just as badly painted, in fact, it was somewhat worse painted than the first one. I decided to keep the second one, and color the ribbon myself with a purple Sharpie marker, because I really liked the style of the angel. Does the Sharpie marker look perfect? No, but it looks a heck of a lot better than the way the manufacturer painted the ribbon.

I was not only disappointed with the purple ribbon on this angel, but with the manufacturer, making me call them when I had already contacted them with photographs on Facebook, and then telling me when I called after they assured they would make it right to “return it to Amazon”. I could have done that without contacting the company. I was trying to find out if this is the company’s usual quality, and it looks like, from the two that I received it is. Between the painting and the company, I will definitely never purchase a Pavilion Gift Company product again. What should have been a joyous symbol to remind me of my dad turned out to be frustrating dealing with the company. Lesson learned!

Because a picture is worth more than words, I have included photographs of the ribbon on both badly painted angels. I definitely would not have purchased them knowing the ribbon was the most poorly painted part, since that’s the reason I choose this particular angel.
